What is brow lamination?
Brow Lamination is a cosmetic procedure that redirects the hair to create the appearance of fuller brows. In most cases, brow lamination also has a brow lifting effect due to the upward positioning of the hairs. This opens up the eye area resulting in a brighter and refreshed look.

What is the process like?
The procedure involves processing the eyebrow hairs using solutions containing perming agents. There are 2 solutions used. Each solution will be applied for 3-5 minutes. The first solution debonds the proteins in the hair which are responsible for keeping its structure. This causes the hair to become malleable and can be redirected, altering the shape of the brows.
Then the second solution is applied which rebonds the hair, therefore freezing it to the desired shape. The debonding and rebonding solutions may cause sensitivity to the skin. Warm sensation or slight tingling is normal during the procedure. It does not hurt or cause any discomfort.
For the finishing touch, the client has the option to tint the brows which dyes the hair and the skin. The tint on the hair lasts about 6 weeks. Meanwhile, the tint on the skin can stay for up to a week depending on the client’s skin type. Although optional, tinting is always recommended as it gives the brows a more polished look and creates a consistent colour throughout the length of the hairs, as naturally our lashes and brows have an ombre effect that makes them lighter at the ends.
Style Options:
- Sleek and defined
- Brushed up, runway look
- Something in between
Hair Characteristics That May Affect the Results:
- Overly thick eyebrow hairs
- Strong hair type (head hair is typically difficult to curl or straighten, or does not hold style)
- Downward growth patterns of the upper section of the eyebrows combined with strong hair type
Since brow lamination is a chemical procedure, results are dependent on the client’s hair type. Some hair types have tighter keratin bonds which do not respond as well to the procedure compared to normal hair types.

What about prep & aftercare?
Prep:
The client cannot have any broken skin or open pores in the treatment area. Therefore the following must be avoided 48 hours prior to the procedure:
- Waxing/Sugaring
- Shaving
- Dermaplaning
- Chemical Peels
- Tanning or application of self-tanner
- Any procedures or application of serums that may cause the skin to become sensitive (ex. use of retinol 7 days before the lamination)
Aftercare:
Please refrain from the following for the first 24 hours after your Brow Lamination procedure:
- Getting your brows wet
- Sleeping on your brows
Keep the brow area moisturized. With any kind of hair treatment, it is always good to keep the hair hydrated.
