Wondering what’s the difference between a lash lift and lash extensions?
Let’s explain!
First, What are lash extensions?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic lashes that are adhered to your individual natural lashes, creating longer and thicker looking lashes. There is definitely a spectrum of drama achieved in the final result – some ladies like more natural looking extensions while others crave dark, dense and thick. Extensions are highly customized based on the client’s preferences and the lash technician’s professional input.
Maintenance: Generally, you will need to get a lash fill every 2-4 weeks depending on how fast your lashes grow. You also need to follow a few rules to care for the lashes in order to keep them looking their best. Much like getting a manicure, lashes that are cared for will look better for longer.
Pros: They look amazing! Extensions add density, length and can even correct or enhance your features. You get a lot of the benefits of strip lashes without the hassle. Not to mention the fact that you wake up looking great effortlessly – say goodbye to your mascara and lash curler!
Cons: Responsibility! While lash extensions can mean no more curling your lashes or applying mascara, extensions can be costly and they do require maintenance and minor changes to your beauty routine.

What is a lash lift?
Lash lifts are a treatment that instantly gives your lashes a lift, separation and extra definition without the use of extensions. Lash Lifting uses silicone rods or shields to give a lifting effect from the base of the eyelash. Pair it with a lash tint for the ultimate fuss-free enhancement to your natural lashes. One of the most amazing things about lash lifts are that they are virtually maintenance-free!
Maintenance: Every 6-12 weeks. The lifted lashes stay lifted until each lash sheds naturally, so the longevity of the lift depends on how fast your lash growth cycle is.
Pros: Lashes appear longer and fuller because they are lifted, allowing every lash to be visible. Aside from the initial 24h after treatment, there is NO maintenance to worry about! A lash lift will help you look more awake & fresh with little to no effort. Say goodbye to your eyelash curler! If you find yourself not wanting to give up mascara, you can wear it with your lift for a little extra pow. Because lifts last longer, they are also less expensive to keep up!
Cons: They don’t have the same wow factor as extensions.
Should you choose lash extensions or a lash lift?
If you’re looking for some definition without the commitment or expense to continually update your extensions, a lash lift is the perfect solution. However, if you are looking for a more dramatic look and don’t mind a little upkeep, eyelash extensions will be your BFF.
