The world of nails is an exciting and constantly evolving industry with many different types of manicures and services to try out. However, there aren’t many that specifically focus on the health and appearance of the cuticle, an important but often overlooked part of the nail experience. Enter: the Russian Manicure. This nail service has become very popular in places like Europe and has been an emerging trend among celebrities in North America for its picture-perfect almost photoshopped look.

What is a Russian Manicure?
A Russian Manicure or also known as a dry manicure is done primarily with an electronic file (e-file). The certified technician precisely uses the e-file and different attachment bits to gently lift and buff away dead cuticle skin around the nail bed. The technician then carefully cuts away any remaining dead skin with tiny scissors for a perfect “photoshopped” look. Lastly, the manicure is finished off with gel polish for a flawless manicure.

Are Russian Manicures Safe?
Whether Russian Manicures are safe to get is a yes and no question: yes but only if you’re getting it done by a trained professional. This is a specialized manicure that requires proper training. Our technician, Lisa, has received specialized Russian Manicure training on top of her general nail education to ensure that the procedure is done in a safe and professional manner. We sterilize all tools and equipment between each and every client and take nail health very seriously.
What Are the Benefits of a Russian Manicure?
Russian Manicures are a great nail investment because of how long lasting the effects are. By removing all of the dead skin from the cuticle, not only does the cuticle area look clean and flawless, but the technician is also able to paint the nail extremely close to the cuticle. This extends the time before grown-out polish is obviously visible and helps to extend the life of the manicure. Clients often find they don’t need to come back until about 4 weeks. Getting Russian manicures combined with regular use of cuticle oil between appointments, will result in the skin around your nails being much smoother, softer, and happier!
